We were not home on St. Patrick's Day to put up the green cross, but it's nice for Spring/Eastertime as well.
You may notice some more open gaps in Iris's smile. Yes, she is on baby tooth #6 that have fallen out. She is soooo happy about that. The Tooth Fairy has been generous, too ($1-$1.25 per tooth!)
While Dad was away on a business trip, Iris and I spent a few evenings
watching the old movie, "The Ten Commandments". It's been awhile since
I've seen it and I still think it was a well-filmed and acted movie. It
is a classic epic film. Now, Iris has a visual (Hollywood style) of
the Moses story and the Israelites freedom from slavery in Egypt. In addition to the 12 days of Easter countdown (a.k.a. Resurrection eggs), I surprised her with a special Lego set-The Last Supper. See Jesus at the door. It was hard to believe that there were nearly 300 pieces to build this set. The tiny forks and knives are lost now, but the cups, plates and bread are on the table.
Iris enjoyed an afternoon with an Easter-type party and Easter egg hunt at a friends' house. I wanted her to attend a special event at church that walks us through the Passion of Jesus Christ, but I think she had more fun staying at the party. However, she was curious about what I did Sunday afternoon. So, I decided to share the elements of the Passion story with her, including the food and drink of a Passover (without the Seder readings). She tasted the parsley dipped in salty water, the matzah, the haroset (I used applesauce, nuts and cinnamon), cooked lamb, and an egg, which was convenient because we had dyed a bunch of hard-boiled eggs earlier.

She really liked it, and asked for more of the story. So, I read from the Bible and continued to tell what happened to Jesus and the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane (we went into the backyard), the judgement in front of the temple leaders, carrying the cross (a tree branch that day), and being laid in the tomb with soldiers guarding the entrance. She really wanted to know more, but it was nearly dinner time. What a precious time that was!

As for other happenings, I've been cooking with more veggies, spent an hour or so at a spa with moms from my church small group, and went to a live concert of "Beethoven Lives Upstairs". I continue to learn a lot through experiences leading children through the Bible at B.S.F., as well as continuing to SLOWLY...clean out more of the garage.
